How to Use the Sparring Cards

These cards are not here to give you answers.

Before you begin, you need just one thing:
an idea.
It doesn’t have to be polished — it can be raw, vague, or half-formed.
Just name it. Two to four words is enough.
(Examples: “Online course,” “Quitting job,” “New brand,” “No idea yet.”)

Solo Mode: For yourself

Use this when you're stuck, unclear, or want to think more deeply.

  1. Name your idea. Keep it short and specific.
  2. Draw a card. Read the question. Don’t rush.
  3. Reflect. Write your response, speak it aloud, or just sit with it.
You can stay with one question as long as you want, or draw more if your mind wants to roam.

No pressure. No goal. Just clarity.

Fight Club Mode: With a partner

Use this in person or on a call with someone who’s also working on an idea.

  1. Each of you writes down your idea (max 4 words).
  2. One person draws a card and asks it to the other.
  3. The partner reflects, answers, explores.
  4. You can:
    • Stay with one card and go deep
    • Ask follow-up questions
    • Or pull another card when it feels right
  5. After ~7 minutes, switch roles.

Important:

  • Don’t give advice.
  • Just ask and explore.
  • Respect silence — it’s part of the process.
  • If a card doesn’t land, just draw another. You’re in control.

This is not a game.
It’s a mirror.
Use it gently. Use it often. Use it when you want to hear yourself clearly.
